Construction of a 7 km section of new road on the N-211

The commissioning of the Alcorisa bypass on the N-211 road will effectively separate medium and long-distance traffic from local traffic, while at the same time decongesting the junction of the Aragonese town, thus improving road safety and connectivity in the area.

Description of the works

Construction of a 7 km long single carriageway in two directions, designed to allow a uniform speed of 90 km/h along its entire length.

To ensure the connectivity of the towns in the area, the project included the construction of three interchanges involving the construction of three continuous deck viaducts of 220, 180 and 160 m respectively, three overpasses and seven subways.

In addition, three 6 m high steel “cofrades” were placed in honour of what is known as the “Ruta del tambor y del bombo” (Drum and Bass Drum Route) of Easter Week in Teruel.

Main Benefits

The construction of this new bypass has freed the town from the daily passage of more than 3,300 vehicles while allowing drivers to save more than six minutes on their journey along the N-211 road.

Most of the crossing traffic was heavy vehicles, so the bypass avoids the passage of these vehicles through the town.

In addition, it will improve road safety, the quality of life of local residents and reduce pollution in the area.
