The Fuentecilla tunnel is located on the Madrid-Valladolid high-speed line, Soto del Real-Segovia section.

Description of works

It is 1,021 m long and was executed using the New Austrian Method.

In the advance phase, 589 m were executed at the north mouth and 412 m at the south mouth. In the demolition phase, 495 m at the north mouth and 506 m at the south mouth.

The waterproofing and the final lining of the tunnel, made of HM-30 concrete, was carried out with a formwork carriage.

A cut-and-cover tunnel was also built at the south entrance, with a wall and precast segments 245 m long, making a total length (tunnel + artificial tunnel) of 1,266 m.

It should be noted that during the execution of the La Fuentecilla tunnel, two faults with a power of 50 m were crossed.
