The Tehuantepec lsthmus Railway, also known as the Transisthmian Railway, is a major railway line in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, connecting the ports of Salina Cruz on the Pacific with Medias Aguas on the Gulf of Mexico. Built at the end of the 19th century, it was essential for the transport of goods and an important communication route in the lsthmus of Tehuantepec region. The main objective ofthe restoration and redesign project of the lsthmus ofTehuantepec Line Z railway is to improve the general conditions of the line between the ports of Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz and Salina Cruz in Oaxaca. The aim is to increase the current commercial speed, operational efficiency, net tones transported per year and operating income, while providing accessibility and mobility to both ports. To achieve this, modifications to the geometric and operational conditions of the track were necessary. The required works in the Medias Aguas – Ubero section are; the correction of the curvature and slope a long a distance of 56 km, the restoration of 42 km of railway track, and the connection to the Port of Salina Cruz. Throughout the work process, the existing route underwent dismantling, and the construction of a new railway superstructure. In addition, three railway bridge construction projects were planned and constructed based on the existing preliminary design. New technologies have been applied, such as the use of triaxial meshes to replace the sub-ballast, thus improving the quality and resistance of railway infrastructure. As part of the construction of the lsthmus Railway, there has been a plan to comprehensively develop the municipalities a long the line by executing 158 social projects. These initiatives involve the establishment of parks and sports facilities, resulting in the creation of 7,500 new jobs. The environmentally conscious approach to construction is notable as it utilises wind and mixed energy in four areas for promoting the placement of industrial activities within the project’s blueprint. As a result, a portion of the utilised energy will originate from wind sources. Furthermore, lucrative projects will be encouraged in industries such as agribusiness, textiles, metallurgy, and electromobility. Line Z Restoration | Section:
