The renewal project for the Zafra–Huelva railway line modernises its infrastructure to improve safety, increase speed, and reduce travel times. The works included track replacement, turnout renewal, and upgrades to bridges, slopes, and drainage. This intervention enhances rail connections in Western Huelva, particularly benefitting towns such as Jabugo, Calañas, and Gibraleón. The comprehensive renewal of the Zafra–Huelva railway line covers two consecutive sections, totalling approximately 74 kilometres. The works included the replacement of the track superstructure (rails, sleepers, and ballast), renewal of turnouts at key stations such as Calañas, Valdelamusa, and Gibraleón, and infrastructure upgrades such as slope protection, bridge repairs, and drainage renewal. These improvements make operations more efficient and safer, strengthening rail links between towns in the western part of the province of Huelva such as Jabugo, Calañas, Trigueros, and Gibraleón.
