Description of works:

At Azvi, we have successfully constructed a 7.5 km section of high-speed railway line, designed for speeds of up to 315 km/h. In addition to excavations and embankments, three imposing viaducts, a tunnel andan artificial tunnel were constructed, demonstrating Azvi’s experience and expertise in state-of-the-art railway construction.

Main Challenges

Pertegas Viaduct

Azvi faced the challenge of minimising the environmental impact ofthis structure by constructing a single-span viaduct that rises majestically over the river. With a total length of 186 m and 5 spans, this viaduct stands out far its hyper static design, with two prefabricated trough beams 2.55 m deep and prestressed compression slabs.

Sustainability

At Azvi, we are proud to highlight our commitment to sustainability and the preservation of the environment. The Barcelona-Figueres line crosses areas of great environmental value, including the Montseny and Montnegre – Corredor Natural Parks. The design included important measures to minimize the environmental impact, such as the construction of three large special tunnels to guarantee the passage of wildlife.

In addition, Azvi carried out complementary measures such as the conditioning of slopes, the creation of landfills, the planting of shrubs and trees, and the protection of hydrological systems, fauna and the acoustic environment. Azvi also carried out additional work to replace and rehabilitate access roads and paths to improve the existing infrastructure.
