Line 3 of the Madrid Metro runs from the northwest to the south, linking the stations of Moncloa and Villaverde Alto. The new 2.6 km extension built by Azvi to El Casar (Getafe) benefits more than a million people from Getafe, Leganés, Móstoles, Alcorcón and Fuenlabrada, who are now able to reach Puerta del Sol in the capital in just half an hour, as well as the 47,000 residents of Madrid’s Villaverde Alto neighbourhood. The extension of Line 3 of the Madrid metro now connects Villaverde Alto station with the new El Casar station, will allows connection with Metro line 12 and Local Train line C3 by means of a pedestrian walkway and a railway connection tunnel with the MetroSur line. For the new section of Metro Line 3, in addition to the new terminal station at El Casar, there are 4 emergency exits, 2 ventilation shafts, 1 pumping shaft, 2 access ramps and 1 working shaft, and all the necessary installations to make the new line extension ready for operation, such as electrification, railway signalling and installation of slab track. The section is 2,700 m long and is entirely in tunnels: A new station has been built at El Casar, which includes: Action financed by the European Union Next Generation – Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Government of Spain in collaboration with the General Directorate of Collective Transport Infrastructure of the Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid.
