Description of the works

Project for the construction of an aircraft apron and flexible pavement area for aircraft in transit for Barcelona Airport’s South terminal.

The apron covers an area of 206,287 m² and features an HP-45 rigid concrete pavement supported by an HM-20 lean concrete sub-base.

The flexible pavement covers the entirety of the apron, except for the areas dedicated to aircraft parking. It is made up of a 6cm thick AENA T-6 hot bituminous mix wearing course, a 9cm thick AENA T-5 intermediate layer, and two 10cm thick AENA T-4 base layers. The total surface area of the pavement is 98,679 m².

As well as the project for the platforms and their corresponding infrastructure, drainage and fuel ducts, a service gallery was built to connect with the new terminal.
