The site development works have been completed for the new Mercadona Logistics Centre in Almeirim, Portugal. With a budget of €20.5 million, the project involved the comprehensive execution of the infrastructures and services required for the operation of the complex, which covers an area of 44 hectares.

Description of the works

The site development works included the installation of: stormwater drainage, wastewater systems, water supply, irrigation networks, fire protection systems, natural gas infrastructure, medium- and low-voltage power networks, lighting, data networks, and video surveillance systems.

The pavements executed were:

Soil-cement stabilization and asphalt pavement layers designed for both heavy and light traffic.
Reinforced concrete slabs with steel fibres and mesh in the loading and unloading dock areas.
Sidewalks with curbs and stamped concrete finishes.

The works also included pumping stations, irrigation tanks, a wastewater treatment plant, two hectares of green areas, and the installation of canopies in several car parks.

The project represented a significant technical and logistical challenge, both due to the size of the site and the demanding deadlines set by the client.
