Project description

Azvi is executing a comprehensive project to improve the sanitation system in the municipality of Gerena. The works include the construction of a 2.3 km collector to capture urban and industrial discharges and convey them to the future WWTP, where they will be treated before being discharged into the Garnacha stream.

The project also includes:

Construction of the access road to the WWTP.
Potable water connection.
Electrical connection and diversion of the existing medium-voltage line.

Collector

Three main sections, with 500- and 700-mm diameter GRP pipes.
The route runs through highly expansive marl and clay soils, at depths of up to 4.5 m.
Collects wastewater from the urban centre and the Gerena industrial park and conveys it to the WWTP.

Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

Biological treatment system using extended aeration in carousel-type tanks.
Includes pretreatment, primary treatment, biological treatment, secondary settling, disinfection, and final discharge.
Sludge line with pumping, thickening, and dewatering systems.
Containment areas for reagent storage, as well ascontrol and automation systems.
Four functional buildings:
o Facilities (pretreatment and dewatering).
o Blowers and generator set.
o Control building.
o Pressure and chlorination hut.
