Strengthening Infrastructure Risk Management in the Atlantic Area

Project co-financed by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with application code EAPA_826/2018.

Most of the transport of people and goods in the Atlantic area is carried out by rail and roads. The performance of these infrastructures is directly affected by extreme natural events due to climate change and the strong corrosion processes resulting from the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.

The objective of the SIRMA project is to develop a robust framework for the management and mitigation of these risks, through the implementation of immediate, medium and long-term measures, thus increasing the resilience of the transport infrastructures.

The consortium, of which Azvi is a member, brings together universities from Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland and France, as well as two state infrastructure managers (Irish Rails and lnfraestruturas de Portugal).

Place and execution deadline: Andalusia (Spain), from April 2019 to September 2022.

Consortium: Azvi, University of Minho, University College Dublin, University of Vigo, Nantes University, University of Surrey, Irish Rail, Infraestruturas de Portugal, Queen’s University Belfast, University of Birmingham
