Grupo Azvi expands the calculation of its carbon footprint and defines new actions to reduce GHG emissions.
In accordance with its commitment to action against climate change, Grupo Azvi has extended the calculation of the carbon footprint to other companies in the group, in particular: Cointer, Traccion Rail and Manfevias (that of Azvi is calculated since 2014). In addition, the Second Greenhouse Emission Reduction Plan (GHG) for the 2018-2022 period has been revised, defining new actions aimed at reducing emissions.
For years, the Grupo Azvi takes measures and carries out actions to fight against climate change. As a result of the steps we have been taking, the calculation of the Azvi carbon footprint was carried out for the first time in 2014.
The calculation is carried out according to the requirements established in the UNE-EN-ISO 14064-1: 2012 Standard: “Greenhouse gases. Part 1 ”and the sectoral reference ENCORD (European Network of Construction Companies for Research and Development) and the results are described in the annual Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Report.
In order to achieve the objectives of the fight against climate change of our environmental policy, we defined in April 2018 the Second Greenhouse Emission Reduction Plan (GHG) for the 2018-2022 period, which has been revised in 2019 to define new actions aimed at reducing emissions and include the companies of the Grupo Azvi to which the carbon footprint has been calculated. The Reduction Plan is available to all Grupo Azvi personnel and to interested parties who request it.
During the first year of implementation, a total of avoided emissions of 1,555 tons of CO2e and a reduction in relative emissions (t CO2e/million €) of 2.6% over the base year have been achieved.
Azvi is a company adhered to the SACE (Andalusian Emissions Compensation System) since 2018 by signing an agreement with the Councillor of Environment and Land Management of the Junta de Andalucía, for which we assume audit and emission reduction commitments . In 2019, the first audit of greenhouse gas emissions and the monitoring report of the reduction plan was presented.
